UCW.

Purpose
To unite women of the congregation for the total mission of the church, and to provide a medium through which we may express our loyalty and devotion to Jesus Christ, in Christian witness, study, fellowship and service. January 1, 1962 saw the birth of the United Church Women, when the Women’s Association (formerly Ladies Aid) and the Women’s Missionary Society joined together to form the UCW.

HUCW holds two annual luncheons. The first of these is the Spring Violet Tea, which takes place in late April, and the second, the Christmas Holly Luncheon, is held at the end of November. Proceeds from those two events, funds raised through catering services and by the work of our quilting group, as well as donations received, allow the UCW to help maintain our church building, support the local food bank, donate to the Benevolent Fund, and give generously to the United Church Mission and Service Fund and Gifts With Vision.

UCW members believe the reception following a funeral is a ministry, and we are honored to provide this service to a grieving family. The sharing of food is part of our Christian tradition, and an important part of the funeral process.

Our UCW members are industrious, caring and supportive of each other and of the community, but we find time and opportunities to share laughter as well, whether it be at our meetings, at our annual Christmas party and Fun Auction, or when we gather to share a meal. We are indeed part of a church family.
